Can you make Posted as quickly updated for deliveries as the "trackthis" application?

In comparison on one package, several hours went buy, there was an update on the "trackthis" app, but nothing on Posted. I was using tracking both UPS and USPS. I think the package may have been using UPS. It was also strange, because "trackthis" even showed tracking package location info that was not available on the UPS site on one update. Which makes me wonder the method that the "trackthis" applcation uses. Everything else is better on Posted, especially after your latest update showing the ETA. I hope that you get the update capability on par with the "trackthis" application. Not sure if the fact that posted didn't update for 2-3 hours at one point was just a bug or not.

Hi,

We use the USPS & UPS web service - same as other apps I am sure.

There should be no delay - we check for the latest results whenever you open the app (I am aware of a very rare bug where it might take 2-3 hours but its quite rare and seems to happen after you get a push notification with the latest status anyway).

Or do you mean push notifications are slow to come? Push checks for changes every 1-3 hours (depending on load). I would like to speed this up but quite simply it would not be financially viable to expand server capacity with the little money the app makes.

Other than fixing that weird obscure/rare bug, or adding more servers capacity, I don't think there's much else I can do here. Most of the reviews I get say the new status is quick to get to their device - so dont think its a widespread problem.

Unfortunately, I think there is a delay in recieiving information and in push notifications both compared to "trackthis". The first instance I mentioned was a delay in 'Posted" sending push notification to the home screen badge, compared to "trackthis" and there was possibly a 2-3 hour delay (not sure if the there was a general delay in receiving information with "Posted" that time). You said this is rare, but I just started using "Posted" and I got this right off the bat.

It happened again, I didn't give it long enough to see how long the delay would continue though. This time I looked at the "trackthis" badge and it was updated. The "Posted" badge was not updated. The UPS page showed that the tracking information was updated 6 minutes ago. So, give it another 1-2 minutes in between to check out "Posted" also. So maybe 7-8 minutes later I go in to "Posted" (in which the home screen badge was still not updated) and open the app. I see that "Posted" still has the old information and I watched it refresh to the new information when I opened the app. So whether there is something wrong with "Posted" or "Trackthis" has more server capacity, I don't know. "Trackthis" seems to be a more reliable and quicker updating delivery application. "Posted" seems to be a way better application otherwise and this is disapointing.

Also, I found a bug in both "Posted" and "Trackthis". I noticed on tracking one of my packages that all the tracking information showed was it's last destination which was "Out for delivery" and it should have been delivered hours ago. So, I go to the UPS website and their website also shows the same information where the detailed tracking information is. Although, then I look and the UPS page clearly shows in a bold green color with a check mark, that the package had been delivered. So, "Posted" and "Trackthis" both only get their tracking information from the tracking information detail, which is not good. The carriers can mess up numerous times scanning the packages and it sometimes won't show up in the tracking details, but only saying "Delivered" in bold green with a check mark. Maybe, USPS functions similar in this instance. The bottom line is the "Posted" and "Trackthis" should also detect when carriers like UPS have updated their pages with the (for instance) bold green check mark, showing that the package has been delivered.

Ok the delay in receiving the push notification is not a bug - as mentioned, we check every 1-3 hours. We can't possibly know exactly when a new event has happened for your parcel, so it has to be on a schedule. If we are lucky, we will check your parcel minutes after a new tracking event has happened. But otherwise, it can be up to 3 hours after.

Expecting a push notification to happen minutes after a new tracking event happens for your parcel is just not consistently possible for us, sorry. We have thousands and thousands of parcels to keep track of for push notifications - and its not financially viable for us to spend money on more server capacity given the amount of money the app makes.

As for the other issue, can you supply a tracking number? Haven't come across this before. Certainly could look at doing this if its a consistent problem.

Thanks for answering all of my questions. I appreciate the excellent support!

Sure. Here is the tracking number:

Ah I see. I honestly haven't seen that before. I will add this to my list.. I don't always want to use the information in that green bar as it is often something like "In Transit" which isn't too helpful. But I can certainly look for if it says "Delivered".

Sounds good and will look forward to it. Hopefully that will fix that. I do a pretty thorough investigation of various apps to decide which one is best. I don't even waste time downloading "Posted" and then after I have tried it download "trackthis". I just buy all the top rated apps all in one shot, and test which one is best. Sometimes ones that aren't top rated that I sense are good. Then I pass along the information to my Facebook friends. I am known to find bugs or other stuff in apps that were never noticed. Thanks!

Yep I understand, I am much the same with my own app purchasing habits.

The issue should be fixed now - let me know if any problems.

Cool. :)

Beautiful. You sure did. Thanks! Shows "Delivered" now and works like a charm. Will do.

Thanks!
